Academic Support

At the core of ASC is the daily tutorial, an onsite program offered Monday through Thursday to all students enrolled into the program. Student advising is an ongoing service of the student’s entire ASC experience which based on an individual goal plan for continued growth and development. The students are strategically matched up with other top students and professionals with the goal of improving their overall academic performance. Sessions are designed to address the fundamental academic needs of our students as well as create the habits needed to excel at the advanced specialized training and college level. Services include tutoring, SAT preparation, course evaluation, and scholarship research, college tours and a quarterly quest speaker series.

Basketball Academy

This program is designed for the student-athlete who is competitive in nature and has a goal of playing basketball for a major university. This is a unique opportunity for the college-bound basketball player to develop the athletic skills and abilities that top university level coaches and teams expect in the competitive world of college athletics.

Student Mentors (Life Coaches)

Students that enroll in ASC are assigned a Life Coach. This person has a personal relationship with the student in order to ensure their social and academic success.

ASC’s mentoring program focuses on building tomorrow’s leaders. Student benefits include: weekly outings, life coaching and training, community orientation and how to be an active member, role modeling, and. . . All ASC Mentors have been screened for criminal background clearance and attend Train the Trainer sessions before they are place with a child. Life Coaches are an essential resource for students in order to be an ear – outings, sharing of personal experiences, etc.

College Tours

Beyond the basic programs that guide our students through the necessary steps to get to college, is the need to demonstrate the world after high school –a glimpse into the world of college. ASC does this through a series of college tours. These tours are organized throughout the year in order to give insight and first hand exposure into the college lifestyle. We visit the top universities throughout California including Stanford, St. Mary’s, UC Berkley and more.

Camps and Clinics

It’s never too early to start teaching children about the important of hard work in school and on the court. ASC reaches out to children of the Sacramento community through free basketball camps and clinics designed to highlight health and fitness, educational planning and life skills. Additionally, each camp includes a guest speaker platform. These camps serve youth ages 6-16 years. Camp locations include Inderkum High School, Sacramento High School, Basketball Town, Natomas High School and Sacramento State.

Guest Speaker Series

ASC organizes a quarterly guest speaker series that provides students with an opportunity to hear about the experiences of various professionals, members of the community, as well as other students with unique experiences that provide inspiration and encouragement for our students to follow in similar footsteps.

ASC Events

ASC also participates in and hosts a number of events within the Sacramento community. These events include the Salvation Army Dinner, Sac. vs. Bay Showdown, Celebrity Basketball Game, and a College Fair. Partnership with these events is designed to promote awareness of ASC’s services and raise funds for programs.
